Dark Matter Day
The McDonald Institute participated in the first ever International Dark Matter Day over the month of October 2017! We teamed up with the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics to host a truly special public event that included live demos and featured dark matter experts from all over Canada, including McDonald Institute faculty member Prof. Ken Clark joining us via video conferencing directly from SNOLAB! Over 200 people attended this public event on Monday, October 23 2017.
31 high school students from the Kingston area also attended a Dark Matter Day workshop. They received a primer on dark matter and got to interact with astrophysicists and particle physicists working on the dark matter puzzle using everything from telescopes to underground experiments at SNOLAB! Make sure to read all about our Dark Matter Day public event and high school workshop, and we’ll see you next year!
