Abstract: What if dark matter currently exists as a composite state, similar to a Standard Model nucleus? With simple ingredients (DM particles and an attractive force between them), DM composite states can be formed in the early universe. The phenomenology of their detection is rich – in this talk, I will discuss “ultraheavy” dark matter composites and their detection prospects, including multi-scattering events in detectors, composites breaking apart in the Earth, and mineral detection methods.

The MI HQP Seminar Series is a forum for graduate students and postdocs to deliver a higher-profile talk. This is an ideal venue for speakers to practice a long-form talk, such as a thesis defence or as part of a job application, and to add an invited talk to their CV. Supervisors, please consider discussing this opportunity with your HQP and encourage them to sign up! Interested parties, please contact Ryan Curtis at hqpac@mcdonaldinstitute.ca
