Effective Networking – Online Edition

Have you been participating in virtual conferences? Are you finding it hard to network in online spaces? Networking is a nuanced art when connecting with someone for the first time online. In this special session, participants will learn how to advance their careers with authentic relationships during times of physical distancing. This session will include: 

  • Learning remote strategies to approach networking, get organized, and solidify your connections.
  • Preparing to introduce yourself effectively in a virtual context and ask intelligent questions.
  • Boosting youconfidence when talking to new people through knowledge and practice.

Presenter: Jenny Lee Northey is a career counsellor at Career Services (Queen’s University) supporting post-secondary students in their career development. With over 10 years of experience working in the education, career, and employment sectors, she has also previously worked internationally in various roles in postsecondary institutions. Jenny integrates her background in intercultural communication, equity, diversity and inclusion, empowering individuals in their next steps forward in their career.
