We are thrilled to present the original artwork of Guelph-based textile artist and author, Lauren Wright Vartanian! Lauren’s new book, Stitching Science: Exploring Science from A-Z is a beautifully crafted work of art three years in the making. Published by Firefly Books in October 2024, Stitching Science is an alphabet book for grown-ups! Readers of all ages will marvel at the beauty, intricacy, and originality of the images, all created by hand from thread, fabrics, fibres, and other textile embellishments.

The exhibit at the McDonald Institute Visitor’s Centre features the complete alphabet of  letter illustrations, along with the cover art, and dedication, make for an impressive 48×84″ grid of 28 artworks. A copy of the book is present, so visitors can make a game of guessing and checking what each letter represents.
