New opportunities in MeV neutrino astrophysics

Abstract:
The Sun and core-collapse supernovae have long been known to be MeV neutrino sources. These neutrinos carry information about astrophysical environments as well as neutrino properties. Despite this great promise, progress has been slow mostly because of obstacles in their measurements. In my talk, I discuss new opportunities for studying MeV neutrino astrophysics brought by the next-generation long-baseline neutrino experiments. Even though they are designed to primarily measure neutrino mixing using terrestrial sources, these experiments have the potential to deliver world-leading results in MeV neutrino astrophysics.
