The Effective Meeting Experience
Ineffective meetings can leave us drained and frustrated, while meaningful meetings can do the opposite and lead to more successful work outcomes. We all have a role to play in the process: this one-hour workshop will examine the three phases of effective meetings – before, during, and after – and provide techniques we can apply to ensure our meetings are meaningful. We will also consider equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) principles that will help all members of the team feel heard and like they belong at the meeting table.
Presenter: Alison Cummings is a Learning and Development Specialist at Queen’s University. She uses various tools in her training including the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI), the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory®, and Cultural Detective®. Alison has a BAH and MA in Classical Studies; her work with the IDI and Milton Bennett’s Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) led to her Master’s work which evaluated the intercultural sensitivity of the ancient Greeks in view of modern intercultural theory.
