Please join us in a celebration of the life and work of Dr. Hugh Evans. Hugh, a Professor Emeritus of Physics at Queen’s University, passed away peacefully on September 12th at the age of 87. Many in the physics community know Hugh for his work and contributions to the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, where he was an instrumental and foundational member, and was most often seen underground working in the pits with students and postdocs, famous for his pragmatic approach to “getting it done”.  Hugh was also passionate about nature, and was a member of the Kingston Field Naturalists where he was known for his expertise in birding and his frequent participation on wildlife excursions. Hugh was also an accomplished sailor, and had a love for sailing in the Lake Ontario region.
